Customer Rating: Summary: An okay cam for action sports Comment: I'll keep this short.
pros:
1. Small
2. Grade A construction and materials
3. Ease of use
4. Works
Cons:
1. Mic is terrible and way too sensitive
2. Unit does not adjust quickly enough while moving from bright to not bright environments.
3. Clarity of recording is not so good during fast MTB riding. Detail of ground and environent limited.
4. Battery does not last long enough for any real MTB ride and extra batteries must be bought and brought on rides.
5. Supports only a max of 2GB for recording. Thats less than an hour of recording. Terible. A unit this size should support a much larger mini sd card.
I admit the unit does work and in bright lighting conditions it works decent for what it is. When riding in the wilderness with patches of bright light shining through the trees and less light in other areas the cam struggles to adjust and the recording ends up being sub-par.
I regret buying this unit and wish I would have spent more money on a higher quality unit.
Customer Rating: Summary: Interesting Gadget Comment: The VholdR Wearable Camcorder is a standard def small rugged wearable camera. The camera isn't particularly sophisticated but it works fairly well recording video and sound at standard def. The software is Java based and not very useful unless you wish to download your video to VholdR's web site. Video quality is pretty good but it isn't high def. Typical of this type of equipment, the video loses color in low light situations. It's still a fun toy if you can get one cheap.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great camera Comment: Recently put this camera through its paces on a 715 mile snowmobile trip through Michigan's upper penninsula. Works great, takes great video and is easy to use. If I had one thing to gripe about, its the auto shut off feature for the unit that, if not used for a certain amount of time, it shuts completely down to conserve battery life. Good feature, but got annoying having to stop, remove unit from my helmet and turn it back on. Outside of that, it works great and is easy to set up and download from. Would definetly get another if I can find it for as good a price.
Customer Rating: Summary: VholdR for Dirt Bikes Comment: Overall this is a great product. I purchased this about six months ago and have no issues. The following are some pros and cons:
Pros:
The best feature of this product is the ease of starting and stopping the video. I can hear the beeps announcing recording while driving a 250cc motorcycle with a helmet on (obviously). The other great features are red/orange/green light indicators on both battery life and memory. This also has multiple mounting devices for many different surfaces which is also a great plus. I have captured some awesome crashes and experiences I love to watch again and again. I also like the fact the charge connection is Mini USB so I was able to use my cell phone charger. It is very easy to turn on and off both the power and recording while riding.
Cons:
I can usually record a maximum of two hours of riding. Both the battery and 2gig memory card allow this much. I have compensated this by periodically turning off and on the camera and only filming trails and turning it off on roads. There is a little bit of wind noise while driving but throw music on the vid and it works great. The editing software provided is for newbs. I guess this could be a pro as well but I like to edit my vids with software that has more features.
I would recommend buying multiple cards or I bring a laptop to charge and download the movies so the camera is ready for the next ride. I also recommend getting other charging devices for instance car chargers and wall charges. I am going to be using this for the skiing/snowmobile season so I will update this review on how well it works for these sports.
Customer Rating: Summary: VHOLDR Comment: great product, im really picky on picture/video quality and this is a very good camera for the price, i would buy the hd but i dont have the money to spend on it and im not a pro going all out so the vholdr will do just fine.... trust me its very clear considering its not hd and the software is very simple and lets you edit, cut video, and add credits to the begining of your clips..i put it on my helmet when i ride mx and on my truck in the desert and not to mention get some good video with it straped on my r/c truck ! it goes anywere
